Planning approval was granted for a partial demolition and alterations to the front and rear facades and internal building and works at this prominent site.

The Hop Shop, Frankston

This project involved the transformation of an old shoe store into a craft beer bar and bottle shop in the Frankston Activity Centre.  Urban Edge worked closely with the clients in gaining planning approval and liquor licencing approval to transform the previously vacant shop into one of Frankston’s newest hospitality destinations.

The Ugly Duckling, Richmond

The Ugly Duckling is a cocktail and wine bar located within the Swan Street Major Activity Centre, a busy street frontage and a hub for food and drink premises.Urban Edge obtained planning approval for the use of the site as a tavern and secured a liquor licence through VCGLR. Previously a shop, the building is a ‘contributory’ graded building providing a popular food and beverage destination in the heart of Swan Street.


UBX Training, Various Locations

Urban Edge Consultants has successfully secured planning approval for eleven gymnasiums throughout Melbourne for 12 Round Fitness.

12 Round Fitness provides high intensity circuit training programs operated by professional athletes and trainers. It is well-established throughout New South Wales, Queensland, Perth and Victoria.

Urban Edge Consultants is proud to have played a role in the establishment of these facilities in and around Melbourne. The applications often involved a change of use to a restricted recreation facility (gymnasium) and associated building and works to allow them to be used as gymnasiums.


Plummer Street, Port Melbourne

Urban Edge has worked with EzyAuto Prestige on a number of projects regarding change of use applications to allow for vehicle sales on site. Various uses often require specific EzyAuto Prestige is a luxury car sales company in the City of Port Phillip, that engages Urban Edge to provide timely advice and services that enable their business to grow.


Willow Urban Retreat, Armadale

Located within the Stonnington Council, The Willow Urban Retreat provides a holistic wellness experience with a range of services including day spa facilities, a yoga studio, treatment spaces and a wholefoods café. Located within a two-storey building of historical significance, the redevelopment of this site was able to enhance and respect the historical contribution of the site to the local area.


Ripponlea Food and Wine, Ripponlea

Ripponlea Food and Wine has transformed the previously existing 40 capacity venue to an 80 capacity bar that caters for the increasing nightlife demand in the area. The project involved extensive renovations and as such required planning expertise in regards to the application for use as well as construction. The project also involved an application to the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) for licensing.


Veneziano Coffee Richmond, Richmond

The Veneziano Coffee Richmond facilitates a specialty end-to-end coffee experience with on-site roasting operations, café dining for 80 patrons and an extended mezzanine space to accommodate back of house office operations and training.


Martin Street Cafe, Brighton

St Martins is a vibrant licensed cafe catering for up to 60 people. Supporting local organic and free-range producers, St Martins Café in the City of Bayside is focused on providing fine food with a difference. In addition to managing the planning permit application through Council, Urban Edge Consultants exercised its expertise in the management of applications to the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) to enable licensed trading.


Seven Seeds, Carlton

Planning approval for use of land as a coffee roasters, cafe and restaurant in Carlton.


Young and Foolish Roasters, Wheelers Hill

Urban Edge Consultants worked successfully with the premises owner, architects and Monash City Council in obtaining Town Planning approval for the cafés licensed outdoor dining area. Seating 54 patrons, the elevated timber decking provides a vibrant dining environment for patrons as well as contributing to the enigmatic culture of the Brandon Park Shopping Centre.


Aerial by Food and Desire, South Wharf

Working closely with Food and Desire, one of Melbourne’s premier events companies, and their team of architects and designers, Urban Edge was successful in amending approved plans for their restaurant and function space in Melbourne’s South Wharf precinct. This development now plays host to one of Melbourne’s premier function rooms catering for a variety of both private and corporate events, catering to up to 900 people.


Half Acre by Food and Desire, South Melbourne

Urban Edge has continued their association with Food and Desire, helping deliver their newest events and wedding venue, Half Acre.  Located within a re-purposed Mill in the City of Port Phillip, Urban Edge was able to successfully able to re-purpose the site to enable a 590 patron capacity venue offering a unique and country-style experience to guests in Melbourne industrial inner south.


Meadowbank Estate, Broadmeadows

Urban Edge Consultants has had a longstanding relationship with the heritage listed Meadowbank Estate. Located within the Hume City Council, the Estate provides a 200 capacity ballroom and garden, in an architecturally significant Scottish vernacular style building. Urban Edge has been instrumental in enabling the estate to grow over time with a number of amendments to both the built form and licensing of the venue to allow this venue to reach its full potential.


South Road Dermatology, Brighton East

Located within the Bayside City Council, South Road Dermatology provides specialised dermatology services to the local and wider community. Urban Edge worked with Clinics by Design in gaining town planning approval for this medical centre and continues to work with Clinics by Design on a regular basis.
