St Kilda Community Housing: Little Grey Street, St Kilda

Urban Edge Consultants worked with St Kilda Community Housing to upgrade the ‘Beach House’ Community Housing project on Little Grey Street in St Kilda. We secured planning approval for upgrading of the heritage building. The redevelopment will provide 22 self-contained units available to low income individuals. St Kilda Community Housing provides safe and secure housing for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The redevelopment is set to be completed in 2020 and Urban Edge is proud to have been part of improving this valuable housing project. This project continues the history we have established in providing planning services for community housing projects.  

Grey St, St Kilda

This double storey Victorian house was restored and a contemporary addition at the rear was added which include 34 self-contained accommodation units. This new 3 storey brick building to the rear with a pitched roof (with flat roof top section) matches that of existing dwelling on the site. The rear addition is linked to the existing structure with a glazed connecting section that clearly marks the separation from a heritage structure to a modern day building.

Grey St, St Kilda

Restoration of large double storey Edwardian house including the development of 19 fully contained bedsitter units to the rear. The additions were designed to preserve intact heritage character of the area with the premises is used by St Kilda Community Housing Ltd to house disadvantage persons.

Sporting pavilion
Field St, Clifton Hill

Single Storey sporting pavilion. The pavilion has been designed to complement the federation colours found in the neighbouring areas. While the proposal represents a contemporary form of development, the use of the brick work ensures that the pavilion is in keeping with the character of its surrounds.

Fire Station
Williamstown Road, Port Melbourne

Development of a new appliance bay at the rear of the Port Melbourne Fire Station. The development is respectful of the heritage character of the existing fire station however is a clearly distinguishable contemporary addition.

Community Housing
Williamstown Road, Port Melbourne

This project involved alterations to the existing heritage site in order to increase the available housing for low income residents. This project provides secure housing for the homeless and low income earners, enabling them to form a stable social network and provide them with opportunities to find employment. This project also highlights the wide range of projects and capabilities of that Urban Edge is prepared to take on.

Fire Station
Droop Street, Footscray

Development of a new appliance bay located towards the rear of the Footscray Fire Station.

Quan Minh Buddhist Temple
Burke Street, Braybrook

This development consisted of a new Buddhist Temple including nuns and monks residencies, car park, landscaping and Buddhist statue. Urbanedge assisted with the expansion of the temple site to include a primary school facility as an integrated element of the services provided to the local community.

Tenterfield Drive, Burnside Heights

Urban Edge worked with Scouts Victoria to develop this multipurpose scout hall that services the municipality of Melton. The hall is used by around 200 youths as well as external groups 7 days of the week and provides a functional and high quality space that enhances the local area.
